Strong Storms Approach: Seek Shelter Indoors Until 9 PM

A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the NWS for parts of Washington, Clarke, Mobile Inland, Baldwin Inland, Greene, and George counties, warning of strong thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 50 mph until 9:00 PM CDT; residents should seek shelter indoors.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile, AL has issued a Special Weather Statement for parts of our area, advising residents to seek shelter indoors due to approaching strong thunderstorms. This statement is effective immediately and expires at 9:00 PM CDT.

As of 8:21 PM CDT, Doppler radar detected strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Stockton to 6 miles north of Lucedale, moving southwest at 25 mph. These storms are capable of producing wind gusts up to 40 to 50 mph. The NWS warns that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Affected areas include Washington, Clarke, Mobile Inland, Baldwin Inland, Greene, and George counties. Specific locations impacted are Saraland, Bay Minette, Satsuma, Citronelle, Lucedale, Creola, Leakesville, Chunchula, Stockton, Gulfcrest, Deer Park, Axis, Calvert, Mount Vernon, McIntosh, Wilmer, I65 And AL 225, I65 And AL 158, and Movico.

If you are outdoors in any of these areas, consider seeking shelter inside a sturdy building until the statement expires at 9:00 PM CDT. Stay informed by monitoring local news and NWS updates.
