Strong Thunderstorm Warning for Jackson Area: Seek Shelter Indoors

A Special Weather Statement has been issued by NWS Mobile AL for Washington and Clarke counties, including Jackson, warning of a strong thunderstorm with wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea-sized hail until 8:00 PM CDT. Residents should seek shelter indoors.

A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL for parts of Washington and Clarke counties, including Jackson, Wagarville, and Leroy. Residents are advised to seek shelter indoors as a strong thunderstorm approaches.

As of 7:15 PM CDT, Doppler radar detected a strong thunderstorm over Jackson, moving southwest at 20 mph. This storm is expected to bring wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph and pea-sized hail. These conditions could result in downed tree limbs and unsecured objects being blown around. Minor damage to outdoor objects is also possible.

The Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and is set to expire at 8:00 PM CDT tonight, September 21, 2026. If you are outdoors in the affected areas, including Jackson, Wagarville, and Leroy, consider seeking shelter inside a building for your safety.
