Residents in Gilchrist, Western Alachua, and Southwestern Columbia counties are advised to seek shelter indoors as a strong thunderstorm moves through the area. The National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL issued a Special Weather Statement at 2:51 PM EDT, effective until 3:30 PM EDT today, October 3.

Doppler radar indicates a strong thunderstorm over Trenton, moving northwest at 15 mph. This storm carries a hazard of wind gusts around 40 mph and minor flooding due to heavy rainfall. Gusty winds could potentially knock down tree limbs and displace unsecured objects. Minor localized flooding is also possible.

Areas specifically impacted include Trenton, Bell, Fort White, and Newberry. The NWS advises that if you are outdoors, you should consider moving inside a building for safety. Torrential rainfall is occurring, and drivers should not attempt to drive through flooded roadways.
