A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Greenville-Spartanburg SC, effective immediately and continuing until 8:00 AM EDT on Sunday, October 11.

Residents in Rabun, Habersham, Stephens, Franklin, and Hart counties in northeast Georgia; Avery, Henderson, Caldwell Mountains, Burke Mountains, McDowell Mountains, Rutherford Mountains, and Polk Mountains in western North Carolina; and Anderson, Abbeville, Greenwood, Oconee Mountains, Pickens Mountains, Greenville Mountains, Greater Oconee, Greater Pickens, Central Greenville, and Southern Greenville in Upstate South Carolina are advised to take precautions.

East winds are expected to be between 10 to 20 mph, with occasional gusts reaching up to 40 mph. A few localized areas may experience brief gusts up to 45 mph. These strong winds could blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs may be downed. Power outages are possible, and trees rooted in saturated soil could be at risk of toppling.

The NWS advises that winds of this strength can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Exercise extra caution while on the road. Stay tuned to your local radio, television, or NOAA Weather Radio for further information and updates.
