Residents in Suwannee, Gilchrist, and Southwestern Columbia counties should be aware of a strong thunderstorm currently located near Ichetucknee Spring, moving north at 20 mph. The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a Special Weather Statement effective until 4:00 PM EDT today, October 3, 2026.

The primary hazards associated with this storm include wind gusts around 40 mph and minor flooding due to heavy rainfall. Radar indicates these conditions. Gusty winds could potentially dislodge tree limbs and unsecured objects. Localized minor flooding from torrential rainfall is also a possibility.

Affected areas include Live Oak, Ichetucknee Spring, Fort White, Wellborn, Dowling Park, Obrien, Luraville, Mcalpin, Branford, and Hildreth. If you are outdoors in these areas, consider seeking shelter inside a sturdy building. Do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways.
