A strong thunderstorm with 40 mph wind gusts and half-inch hail is tracking towards Eastern Colorado Springs, Cimarron Hills, and local Space Force Bases; residents should seek indoor shelter immediately.
Residents in Eastern Colorado Springs, Cimarron Hills, and areas near Schriever and Peterson Space Force Bases should seek shelter indoors immediately. A strong thunderstorm is tracking towards the area, bringing wind gusts up to 40 mph and half-inch hail.
The National Weather Service in Pueblo CO issued a Special Weather Statement at 6:19 PM MDT today, September 25. Doppler radar indicates the storm is currently over Cimarron Hills, approximately 7 miles east of Colorado Springs, and is moving east at 15 mph.
The primary hazards are wind gusts up to 40 mph and hail up to half an inch in size. Gusty winds could cause unsecured objects to blow around and knock down tree limbs. Minor damage to vegetation from hail is also possible.
This alert is in effect until 6:45 PM MDT. Locations specifically impacted include Eastern Colorado Springs, Schriever Space Force Base, Cimarron Hills, and Peterson Space Force Base.
If you are outdoors in these areas, consider seeking shelter inside a building for the duration of the storm.
