A Rip Current Statement has been issued for Coastal Collier County, effective from October 9, 2026, at 10:02 AM EDT until October 10, 2026, at 8:00 PM EDT. This statement indicates a High Rip Current Risk, meaning dangerous rip currents are expected. Residents and visitors are advised to swim near a lifeguard.
The National Weather Service Miami FL also issued a Coastal Flood Statement for Coastal Collier County, indicating isolated minor coastal flooding through Saturday morning. This may result in some water on low-lying roads and properties. Drivers are instructed not to drive through flooded roadways.
Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, capable of sweeping even strong swimmers into deeper water. If caught in a rip current, individuals should relax and float. Do not swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
