Al Duffy: Decades of Service from Volunteer to Greater Naples Fire Rescue Chairman

Greater Naples Fire Rescue Chairman Al Duffy dedicated decades to fire service, beginning as a volunteer and culminating in a distinguished career as a Battalion Chief. His extensive background in fire safety and emergency response shaped his contributions to Collier County.

Duffy's journey in fire service began in 1981 as a volunteer firefighter with the Hagerman Fire Department in Long Island, New York. After moving to Naples in September 1985, he immediately continued his volunteer work with both the East Naples and Marco Island Fire Departments.

In June 1986, the City of Naples Fire Department appointed Duffy as a firefighter. He then transitioned to the North Naples Fire Department in July 1989. This department later became North Collier Fire Rescue in 2015. Duffy retired from North Collier Fire Rescue in June 2019 as a Battalion Chief, marking 30 years of service in the region.

Beyond his operational roles, Chairman Duffy holds an AS Degree in Fire Science Technology. He also possesses multiple certifications, including Florida State Emergency Medical Technician, Pump Operator, Fire Officer II, Fire Inspector II, and Fire Instructor II. These qualifications underscore his comprehensive expertise in fire safety and emergency management.

Chairman Duffy continues to contribute to fire safety in his role with Greater Naples Fire Rescue. His long-standing commitment to the community reflects a career built on service and expertise.
