The Cocoa Beach Fire Department staffs its two stations with at least nine personnel on each of three daily shifts. Firefighters work 24-hour shifts followed by 48 hours off duty. Administrative staff work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All department personnel are on call for emergencies outside their scheduled shifts, including fires, other emergencies and severe weather impacting the coastal areas. Applicants seeking to join the department as firefighters must hold State of Florida Minimum Standards for Firefighters certification and either a State of Florida Paramedic or EMT certification.
The City of Cocoa Beach Personnel Department manages the hiring process for these positions.
