Strong Storms Approach: Wind Gusts Up To 50 MPH, Half-Inch Hail Expected

Residents in Pontotoc, Coal, Johnston, Atoka, Love, Marshall, and Bryan counties should prepare for strong thunderstorms. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Norman, OK, has issued a Special Weather Statement effective until 4:15 PM CDT today, September 20, 2026.

At 3:28 PM CDT, Doppler radar detected strong thunderstorms moving east at 10 mph. These storms extend from 7 miles east of Reagan to 4 miles northwest of Lebanon. The primary hazards include wind gusts up to 50 mph and half-inch hail. The NWS indicates these wind gusts could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

If you are outdoors, seek shelter inside a building immediately. Locations impacted include Madill, Tishomingo, Coalgate, Kingston, Mannsville, Ravia, Wapanucka, Lehigh, Milburn, Bromide, Clarita, Olney, Fillmore, Reagan, Connerville, Pontotoc, Woodville, Lebanon, Russett, and Willis.
