Heat Advisory Issued for Mendocino and Lake Counties, Stay Hydrated
A Heat Advisory is in effect for Mendocino and Lake Counties until 11:00 PM PDT tonight, with temperatures up to 100 degrees; residents should drink fluids and stay in air-conditioned spaces.
Residents in Mendocino Interior and Lake County should take precautions as a Heat Advisory is in effect until 11:00 PM PDT this evening, October 8. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Eureka, CA, issued the advisory due to expected high temperatures ranging from 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, with overnight lows remaining in the high 50s and 60s.
This advisory applies to Northwestern Interior Mendocino, Northeastern Interior Mendocino, Southwestern Interior Mendocino, Southeastern Interior Mendocino, Northern Lake, Western Lake, Southwestern Lake, and Eastern Lake areas. The NWS warns that these hot temperatures may cause heat-related illnesses.
To protect yourself and others, the NWS advises drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun, and checking on relatives and neighbors. This is a moderate to localized Major HeatRisk event. The advisory became effective at 4:55 PM PDT and will expire at 11:00 PM PDT tonight.
