Heat Advisory Issued for Mendocino and Lake Counties Through Thursday
A Heat Advisory is in effect for Mendocino and Lake Counties until Thursday at 11:00 PM PDT, with temperatures reaching 95-102 degrees, posing a risk of heat illness.
Residents in Mendocino Interior and Lake County are advised to take precautions against extreme heat as a Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Eureka CA. The advisory is effective immediately, October 7, 2026, at 3:11 PM PDT, and will remain in effect until Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 11:00 PM PDT.
High temperatures are expected to reach between 95 and 102 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight temperatures will remain elevated, in the high 50s and 60s. This level of heat carries a Moderate to localized Major HeatRisk, posing a significant risk of heat illnesses.
The NWS recommends that individuals in the affected areas – Northwestern, Northeastern, Southwestern, and Southeastern Interior Mendocino, along with Northern, Western, Southwestern, and Eastern Lake counties – drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. It is also advised to check on relatives and neighbors to ensure their safety during this period of high heat.
