Residents of Borrego Springs should immediately begin preparations as a Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the San Diego County Deserts by the National Weather Service San Diego CA, effective October 10 at 2:26 AM PDT. This watch signifies that tropical storm conditions are possible within the specified area.

Peak wind gusts of 25-35 mph, potentially reaching 55 mph, are anticipated. These winds could cause limited damage to structures like porches, awnings, and sheds, and may lead to scattered power and communications outages. Efforts to protect property should now be underway, and all preparations should be completed before hazardous winds begin.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with around 1 inch of rain forecasted. The National Weather Service warns of potential major flooding, which may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers, creeks, and arroyos could rapidly overflow. Residents in flood-vulnerable areas are strongly advised to consider protective actions and heed any flood watches and warnings. Failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Tornadoes are not expected at this time.
