Residents in the San Diego County Inland Valleys should prepare for dangerously hot conditions and strong winds, according to an Extreme Heat Warning issued by NWS San Diego CA. The warning is in effect from October 2 at 12:25 PM PDT until October 8 at 8:00 PM PDT.
Temperatures are expected to reach between the upper 90s and 105 degrees Fahrenheit, with nighttime lows remaining warm, ranging from the lower to mid-70s. Heat-related illnesses are a significant concern during such events. A Wind Advisory is also in effect from Saturday, October 4, at 6 AM PDT to 6 PM PDT, bringing east winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
To stay safe, drink plenty of fluids, remain in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. Check on relatives and neighbors. Never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can quickly reach lethal temperatures. Strong winds can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, so use extra caution on the roads. Gusty winds may also lead to downed tree limbs and potential power outages.
