Residents and visitors in San Diego and Orange County Coastal Areas should be aware of a Beach Hazards Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego, CA. Dangerous rip currents are expected from Tuesday afternoon, October 6, through Friday evening, October 9.
Additionally, a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for the same areas from 6 AM Wednesday, October 7, to 11 AM PDT Friday, October 9. Minor coastal flooding is anticipated, potentially impacting lots, parks, and roads. Isolated road closures are possible, and minor coastal erosion is also expected. Elevated surf of 3-6 feet, with sets to 7 feet, is forecast for south and southwest-facing beaches. High tides are projected to peak between 6.5 and 7.0 feet during morning and evening hours.
The NWS advises that if travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Property owners in flood-prone areas should take necessary actions to protect their property. For safety, residents are urged to remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
