A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from this evening until Monday morning for mountain ranges in our area, bringing heavy snow, gusty winds, and difficult travel conditions.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Little Belt and Highwood Mountains, Snowy and Judith Mountains, and Elkhorn and Boulder Mountains. Heavy, wet snow and gusty winds are expected, making travel very difficult. The warning is effective from 6 PM MDT this evening, October 10, until 6 AM MDT on Monday, October 12.

The National Weather Service in Great Falls, MT, reports total snow accumulations between 6 and 12 inches are possible, with the highest amounts on northern slopes between 4500 and 6500 feet. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. These conditions may lead to downed tree branches and isolated power outages.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. For the latest road conditions, dial 511.
