Winter Weather Advisory Issued for North Central Montana
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by NWS Great Falls MT for north central Montana, warning of snow, gusty winds, and difficult travel from Saturday evening to Monday morning. Prepare for potential power outages and exercise caution on roads.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for portions of north central Montana, effective from Saturday, October 10 at 6:00 PM MDT, until Monday, October 12 at 6:00 AM MDT. Residents in affected areas should prepare for snow and difficult travel conditions.
The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Great Falls MT, warns of expected total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches at lower elevations, with 5 to 10 inches in the mountains. Winds are anticipated to gust as high as 40 mph.
Areas included in the advisory are the East Glacier Park Region; Northern High Plains; Eastern Glacier, Western Toole, and Central Pondera; Eastern Toole and Liberty; Western and Central Chouteau County; Bears Paw Mountains and Southern Blaine; and Fergus County below 4500ft.
Impacts could include difficult travel. Gusty winds combined with the wet and heavy snow may bring down tree branches, and isolated power outages are possible. Snowfall on non-grassy surfaces at lower elevations will be confined mainly to the evening through late morning hours.
The NWS advises motorists to slow down and use caution while traveling. For the latest road conditions, residents can call 511.
