A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Central Walton, including Red Bay, with immediate sheltering advised due to potential life-threatening winds and major flooding; isolated tornadoes are also possible.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Central Walton, including Red Bay, effective immediately as of October 10 at 2:07 AM EDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee. Tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours.

Residents in Central Walton, particularly Red Bay, must shelter immediately from life-threatening winds. The NWS forecasts peak winds of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, but warns of a potential for winds greater than 110 mph, equivalent to a Category 3 hurricane or higher. Catastrophic wind damage is possible. Move to the safest place inside your shelter if necessary.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with potential for major flooding from heavy rain. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Isolated tornadoes are also possible; move quickly to the safest place within your shelter if a tornado warning is issued.

There is little to no threat of storm surge flooding. For more information, visit weather.gov/tallahassee, floridadisaster.org, or co.walton.fl.us/1063/Emergency-Management. This warning expires October 10, 2026, at 10:15 AM UTC.
