Graveside services to honor the life of Edward “Ed” Thomas Jacobs, Jr. 90, of Weaver, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:45-2:45 p.m. prior to the service. Rev. Jerry Starling will be officiating.Ed passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, surrounded by family.He was a loving father to Linda Clay (Travis), Cindy Veazey (Neal), and Eddie Jacobs (Shaney); a loving grandfather to Mandi Clay, Jordan Foster (Justin), Kacey Treadaway (Bradley), Garrett Veazey (Ashley), and Cody Jacobs; a loving great-grandfather to Easton Veazey, Everleigh Veazey, Braxon Foster, and Brady Foster; a loving brother to Pat Williamson; a loving uncle to Tammy Brown and Darla Smith (Alan); and a loving great-uncle to several nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Cody Jacobs, Garrett Veazey, Justin Foster, Bradley Treadaway, and Neal Veazey.Ed was born on November 30, 1935, in Bellaire, Ohio and made his way to Anniston, Alabama through his service in the United States Army, while stationed at Fort McClellan.After Ed left the Army, he worked several years at Lenlock Drugs in Anniston. Ed then went on to work at Union Foundry in Anniston, where he earned the nickname “Yank”, and retired after 30 years.Ed was known for his generosity, kindness, and diversity. He wanted everyone to be treated equally and with fairness. Ed taught his family the value of hard work and compassion toward others.Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Jacobs; his parents, Zelda and Edward Thomas Jacobs, Sr.; and his son-in-law, Travis Clay.Ed was dearly loved by so many and will be deeply missed.Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans), Anniston-Oxford Chapter #98, 1810 Noble Street, Anniston, AL 36201.
