Tropical Storm Watch Issued for Chattahoochee: Prepare Now
A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Chattahoochee and Cusseta, urging residents to prepare for potential wind, flooding, and tornadoes; act now to complete preparations and heed all warnings.
A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Chattahoochee, including Cusseta, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA, effective immediately as of October 8 at 11:16 PM EDT. This watch will remain in effect until October 9 at 7:30 AM UTC.
Residents are urged to act now and complete all preparations before hazardous conditions develop. Potential impacts include wind speeds of 39 to 57 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, capable of causing limited damage to property and trees. Scattered power outages are possible.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. The NWS forecasts 1-3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, leading to potential moderate flooding. Evacuations and rescues are possible due to swollen rivers, creeks, and standing water. Heed any flood watches and warnings.
The situation is favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if issued. Significant damage from tornadoes is possible, including power and communication failures.
