A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Cusseta by NWS Peachtree City GA, warning of hazardous winds, moderate flooding, and potential tornadoes; residents should prepare immediately.

Cusseta residents, a Tropical Storm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service Peachtree City GA, effective immediately as of October 8 at 9:16 PM EDT. This watch is in effect until October 9 at 5:30 AM UTC.

You should act now to complete preparations for hazardous wind conditions, potential moderate flooding, and the possibility of several tornadoes. Peak wind gusts of up to 40 mph are expected, with the potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Damage to outdoor property and trees is possible, leading to scattered power outages. Efforts to protect property should be underway.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 1-3 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate rainfall flooding may prompt evacuations and rescues, with rivers and tributaries potentially overflowing their banks. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life.

The situation is favorable for tornadoes, with the potential for several, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should prepare to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings, and be ready to shelter quickly if one is issued. For more information, visit ready.gov/hurricanes and weather.gov/atlanta.
