Agustin D. “Ben” Dormitorio, M.D., age 84, a longtime resident of Naperville, Illinois, since 1986, passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2026, with his beloved wife by his side.Ben was born on August 28, 1941, in Dumangas, Iloilo, Philippines, to Bernardo and Natividad Dormitorio. He lived a life dedicated to his family, his patients, and his profession, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him.He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Dawn Dormitorio (née Fischer); his loving children, Thomas Dormitorio, Nicholas (Jenifer Bailey) Dormitorio, and Stefanie (Michael Kobel) Dormitorio; and his adored granddaughter, Livia Dormitorio.He is also survived by his siblings, Jenia (Tom) Tierney, Edgardo (Terry) Dormitorio, Stefa (Edmund) Sichon, Edith Dormitorio Manzano, and Samuel Dormitorio, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and former patients.He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Bernardo and Natividad Dormitorio.Dr. Dormitorio was a highly respected physician whose career spanned more than five decades of service to the Chicago area. He earned his medical degree from the Cebu Institute of Medicine in the Philippines in 1965 and began practicing medicine in the United States in 1972.As both a general surgeon and family medicine physician, Dr. Dormitorio cared for generations of patients with skill, compassion, and dedication. Throughout his distinguished career, he was affiliated with several prominent Chicago-area medical institutions, including Methodist Hospital of Chicago, Thorek Memorial Hospital, and West Fullerton Medical Clinic.Known for his exceptional bedside manner, attentiveness, and commitment to patient care, Dr. Dormitorio earned the trust and gratitude of countless individuals and families. He consistently received 5-star patient ratings and was highly regarded for his thorough follow-up care, professionalism, and genuine concern for those he served. Patients often described him as compassionate, responsible, attentive, and deeply committed to their well-being.Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ben was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, cherished brother, and loyal friend. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to helping others.His legacy lives on through the family he loved, the patients he cared for, and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable life.He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Ben’s life, memorial donations may be directed to his family.Visitation will be Thursday, June 11, 4:00-8:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. All are welcome to gather on Friday, June 12, 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 2220 Lisson Rd., Naperville. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
