A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Lower St. Bernard, including Yscloskey, Delacroix, and Shell Beach, by the National Weather Service New Orleans, effective immediately as of October 8 at 10:01 PM CDT. The primary concern is a life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground in surge-prone areas, with a window of concern through Saturday morning.

Residents in these areas should plan for significant inundation and potential damage. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations should be completed without delay before conditions become unsafe. If evacuation orders are issued for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services. This storm surge has the potential to cause damage to buildings near the coast, weaken escape routes, and cause major marsh erosion.

While wind gusts of 25-35 mph with peaks up to 55 mph are possible, sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force. Little to no additional significant rainfall or tornado activity is currently forecast. This warning expires October 9, 2026, at 6:15 AM UTC.
