Day.News advises residents in the Chuska Mountains, West Central Plateau, West Central Mountains, and Southwest Mountains to exercise caution due to a Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, NM. This advisory is effective immediately, October 11, at 12:07 PM MDT, and will remain in effect until 6:00 PM MDT this evening.

South to southwest winds are expected to reach sustained speeds of 30 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 50 mph. These strong winds can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Tree limbs may be blown down, and unsecured objects could be displaced.

Drivers on Interstate 40 between Grants and Gallup should anticipate strong crosswinds. The National Weather Service advises using extra caution if traveling in these affected areas. Secure any loose outdoor items to prevent damage or injury.
