Two Men Charged in Armed Home Invasion in Cape Coral
Cape Coral police charged Palmer J. Aikens and Steven P. Ryan with armed home invasion robbery following a May 21 break-in at a Northwest Cape Coral residence.
The victim reported that two men entered his bedroom while he slept, pistol-whipped him, and threatened to kill him as they searched his room. The suspects stole his money and wallet.
Home surveillance video corroborated the victim's account and showed the suspects leaving in a dark blue Pontiac. Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit identified Aikens, 41, and Ryan, 43, through law enforcement databases and interviews. Ryan owns the vehicle seen on the surveillance footage.
Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and took both men into custody while they were traveling together in Ryan's vehicle in Cape Coral. Aikens and Ryan face charges of home invasion robbery with a firearm and possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon. They are held at the Lee County Jail.
