The Cocoa Police Department seeks to fill open positions for police officers and police officer trainees. The department, accredited by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation since 2006, offers competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and retirement options.

Experienced police officers receive a base salary of $55,161.60, plus 100 hours of holiday pay, totaling an additional $2,167. This position requires sworn officers who meet department qualifications.

The department also recruits police officer trainees. Trainees earn a salary while attending school and learning the skills necessary to become a sworn officer. The starting base salary for trainees is $42,577.60, which includes health and wellness benefits. Trainees must successfully complete the Law Enforcement Recruit Academy and then transition into a sworn police officer role, receiving all associated benefits.

The city of Cocoa commits to being a drug-free, equal opportunity employer. The Cocoa Police Department upholds equal employment opportunity for all applicants and employees, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, political affiliation, disability, or marital status. This policy applies to all employment levels and job classifications.

The hiring process includes submitting an employment application and attending interviews. Interested individuals may contact the Cocoa Police Department's non-emergency line at 321-639-7620 or visit headquarters at 1226 West King Street, Cocoa, FL 32922.
