A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for northwestern Armstrong, northeastern Randall, and southwestern Carson Counties in the Texas Panhandle, effective immediately until 6:15 PM CDT today, September 29. Residents in these areas should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for protection.
The National Weather Service in Amarillo reports that at 5:21 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 5 miles southwest of Washburn, moving northeast at 25 mph. This storm is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts. Minor damage to roofs, siding, and trees is possible.
Locations impacted include Panhandle, Claude, and Washburn. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, which may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
