Ronald King, Sr., Army Veteran, Dies at 79
Ronald "Steve" King, Sr., a U.S. Army veteran and longtime member of Scenic Hills Church of Christ, died June 3 from bladder cancer. He was 79.
King was born June 6, 1946, in Pensacola and served in the Army with postings in Germany and Okinawa. He worked in the Cerax division at Monsanto before retiring. At Scenic Hills Church of Christ, he was known for his outgoing personality. He bowled, golfed, and attended his son's athletic events.
His wife, Lola Meredith King, preceded him in death. King is survived by his son Steve King, Jr., and wife Hannah; grandchildren Audra and Owen Davis; brother-in-law Buddy Meredith and wife Melinda; nieces Donna Carter and Brigett Valier; great-niece Raven Valier; and great-nephew Maverick Valier.
A visitation and service were held June 8 at Faith Chapel North. The family requests memorial contributions to St. Jude's or Wounded Warriors in lieu of flowers.
