Strong Thunderstorm Warning: Corson and Campbell Counties Advised to Monitor
A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Corson and Campbell counties, warning of a strong thunderstorm with 50 mph wind gusts and pea-sized hail, effective until 8:45 AM CDT. Residents are advised to monitor conditions.
Residents in Corson and Campbell counties are advised to monitor weather conditions closely due to a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Aberdeen, SD. A strong thunderstorm is currently tracking northeast at 30 mph.
At 8:04 AM CDT /7:04 AM MDT/, radar indicated a strong thunderstorm near Grand River Casino, also near Wakpala. This storm is producing wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea-sized hail.
The NWS warns that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.
The strong thunderstorm is expected to impact the Indian Memorial Rec Area and Grand River Casino around 8:05 AM CDT, and Wakpala around 8:10 AM CDT. This Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and expires at 8:45 AM CDT.
Residents in the affected areas should be alert for threatening weather conditions.
