A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Mitchell County, including Camilla and Pelham, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective immediately, October 9, at 10:57 PM EDT. This warning expires at 3:00 AM EDT on October 10.

Residents in affected areas should complete all preparations now before hazardous winds begin. Plan for potential winds of 39 to 57 mph, with peak gusts up to 35 mph. Limited damage to property, tree limbs, and scattered power outages are possible.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Major rainfall flooding is expected with an additional 1-3 inches of rain possible, leading to potential evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings. Streets may become impassable, and many roads and bridges may close.

The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be prepared to shelter quickly.
