MITCHELL COUNTY, GA – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Mitchell County, including Camilla and Pelham, effective immediately from October 10 at 2:07 AM EDT until 10:15 AM EDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL urges residents to complete all preparations now.
Wind speeds are forecast between 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, but there is potential for winds of 39 to 57 mph. Residents should secure outdoor objects. Damage to lightweight structures, tree limbs, and some power outages are possible.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 1 inch of rain expected. The NWS warns of potential for major flooding, urging residents in flood-prone areas to strongly consider protective actions. Evacuations and rescues are likely, and floodwaters could enter structures. Do not drive through flooded roads.
The situation is favorable for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Listen for tornado watches and warnings. If a tornado warning is issued, shelter quickly. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Tornadoes can cause significant damage, power loss, and communications failures.
