A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Calhoun, Carroll, Crawford, and Sac Counties in west central Iowa until 11:00 PM CDT tonight, October 8, 2026. The National Weather Service in Des Moines advises residents in these areas to take immediate shelter.

At 10:18 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was detected over Wall Lake, approximately 12 miles southwest of Sac City, moving southeast at 35 mph. The primary hazard associated with this storm is quarter-size hail. Radar has indicated this hazard, and damage to vehicles is expected.

Impacted locations include Carroll, Lake City, Lake View, Black Hawk Lake, Wall Lake, Arcadia, Breda, Templeton, Auburn, Westside, Halbur, Lidderdale, Lanesboro, Yetter, Hobbs County Park, Arthur N Neu Airport, Blackhawk Lake State Park, Wall Lake Municipal Airport, and Swan Lake State Park.

For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. This warning is issued by the National Weather Service in Des Moines, IA.
