Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Calhoun, Pocahontas, Sac Counties until 12:45 AM CDT
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for parts of Calhoun, Pocahontas, and Sac Counties until 12:45 AM CDT, with quarter-size hail expected. Seek shelter immediately.
Residents in southwestern Pocahontas County, northeastern Sac County, and northwestern Calhoun County are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Des Moines, effective until 12:45 AM CDT on October 9.
As of 12:06 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Newell, approximately 9 miles east of Storm Lake, moving southeast at 25 mph. This storm is capable of producing quarter-size hail, which is expected to cause damage to vehicles.
Areas that may be impacted include Sac City, Pomeroy, Fonda, Lytton, Nemaha, and Varina. The warning is in effect until 12:45 AM CDT. Stay indoors and away from windows for your safety.
