Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Calhoun, Carroll, Crawford, Sac Counties
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 10:00 PM CDT tonight for parts of Calhoun, Carroll, Crawford, and Sac Counties, with quarter-size hail expected; residents should seek interior shelter immediately.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Calhoun, Carroll, Crawford, and Sac Counties in west-central Iowa until 10:00 PM CDT tonight, October 8th, 2026. Residents in the affected areas should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for their protection.
The National Weather Service in Des Moines issued the warning at 9:20 PM CDT. At 9:19 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Schaller, approximately 10 miles south of Storm Lake, moving southeast at 35 mph. The primary hazard is quarter-size hail, which is expected to cause damage to vehicles.
Areas expected to be impacted include Sac City, Lake View, Odebolt, Black Hawk Lake, Wall Lake, Schaller, Early, Arcadia, Breda, Auburn, Lytton, Nemaha, Jolley, Yetter, Sac City Municipal Airport, Blackhawk Lake State Park, and Wall Lake Municipal Airport.
