A Wind Advisory has been issued for Parker Valley, Yuma, and Imperial County areas, with south winds up to 50 mph expected from October 10 at 12:02 PM MST until October 11 at 5:00 PM MST.
A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Phoenix AZ, effective today, October 10, at 12:02 PM MST until tomorrow, October 11, at 5:00 PM MST. South winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected.
This advisory affects residents in Parker Valley, Kofa, Yuma, Central La Paz, Southeast Yuma County, Gila River Valley, Joshua Tree NP West, Joshua Tree NP East, Imperial County Southwest, Salton Sea, Chuckwalla Mountains, Imperial County Southeast, Imperial County West, Imperial Valley, Chiriaco Summit, Palo Verde Valley, and Chuckwalla Valley.
The NWS advises that these winds will make driving difficult, particularly for larger vehicles traveling along roads with crosswinds. Light, unsecured objects may become airborne. Additionally, strong winds over desert areas could lead to briefly lowered visibilities due to blowing dust or sand.
Use extra caution if traveling. Drivers of high-profile vehicles should be especially vigilant. Secure any outdoor items that could be moved by strong winds.
