Wind Advisory Issued: Gusts Up To 55 MPH Expected Today
A Wind Advisory is in effect until 5 PM MST / PDT today, October 11, for Parker Valley, Yuma, Imperial County, and surrounding areas, with gusts up to 55 mph expected, posing risks for drivers and unsecured objects.
Residents across Parker Valley, Yuma, Imperial County, and surrounding areas should prepare for strong winds today. The National Weather Service (NWS) Phoenix AZ has issued a Wind Advisory effective until 5 PM MST / 5 PM PDT this afternoon, October 11.
South winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts reaching 45 to 55 mph, are expected. This advisory impacts portions of southwest Arizona and southeast and southern California, including Kofa, Central La Paz, Southeast Yuma County, Gila River Valley, Joshua Tree National Park (West and East), Imperial County Southwest, Salton Sea, Chuckwalla Mountains, Imperial County Southeast, Imperial County West, Imperial Valley, Chiriaco Summit, Palo Verde Valley, and Chuckwalla Valley.
The NWS warns that these conditions will make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Light, unsecured outdoor objects may become airborne. Strong winds over desert areas could also reduce visibility to less than a mile due to blowing dust or sand. Use extra caution while traveling.
