A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Phoenix AZ for parts of Imperial County and Joshua Tree National Park, effective from 2 AM PDT until 5 PM PDT this Sunday, October 11th. Residents and travelers in these areas should prepare for difficult driving conditions and secure outdoor objects.
Specifically, the advisory covers Imperial County Southwest, Salton Sea, Chiriaco Summit, Joshua Tree NP East, and Joshua Tree NP West. South winds are expected to reach 25 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 45 to 55 mph.
The NWS warns that these strong winds will make driving challenging, particularly for larger vehicles and those on roads with crosswinds. Light, unsecured objects may become airborne. Additionally, strong winds in desert areas could lead to significantly reduced visibility due to blowing dust or sand. Use extra caution when driving and be aware of your surroundings.
