Winter Weather Advisory Issued: Snow and Gusty Winds Expected

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for multiple counties, with 3-10 inches of snow and winds up to 40 mph expected through Monday morning, potentially causing difficult travel and isolated power outages.

Residents in Eastern Glacier, Western Toole, Central Pondera, Eastern Toole, Liberty, Western and Central Chouteau County, Bears Paw Mountains, Southern Blaine, and Fergus County (below 4500ft) should prepare for a Winter Weather Advisory, effective immediately until 6:00 AM MDT on Monday, October 12. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Great Falls has issued this advisory, indicating expected snow and gusty winds.

Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are anticipated across lower elevations, with 5 to 10 inches possible in mountain areas. Locally higher amounts of snow are also possible. Winds are forecast to gust as high as 40 mph. These conditions could make travel difficult. The NWS warns that gusty winds combined with heavy, wet snow may bring down tree branches, potentially leading to isolated power outages.

The public is advised to slow down and use caution while traveling. For the latest road conditions, residents can call 511. Snowfall amounts on non-grassy surfaces are expected to be most significant between the evening and late morning hours.
