SCF Awards 218 Health Profession Degrees at May Graduation

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota graduated 218 students from health profession programs May 6 and 7 at its Bradenton campus.

The nursing program led with 145 graduates: 110 earned Associate in Science degrees and 35 earned Bachelor of Science degrees. All nursing graduates qualify to take the National Council Licensure Examination for registered nurses. Ten ASN graduates enrolled in SCF's fast-track ASN-to-BSN program.

Nursing scholarship recipients included Christopher Nothdurft (Manatee Memorial Hospital Excellence Award), Tia Jones (Sarasota Memorial Health Care System Excellence Award), and Kathryn Johnson (Chastain-Blankenship Scholarship).

The dental hygiene program awarded 16 Associate in Science degrees. All graduates who sat for national and clinical board examinations passed. Melissa Wagner received the Academic Achievement Award and the Hu Friedy Golden Scaler Award. Other award recipients were Gonzalez (Academic Achievement), Alexa Ott (Crest Oral-B Hygienist Proud Award), Sylwia Sarantopoulos (Colgate Star Award), and Jared Barker (West Coast Dental Hygienists' Association Leadership Award).

The occupational therapy assistant program graduated nine students. All received job offers upon graduation and passing the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy examination. Award recipients included Lexie Peplinski (Outstanding Student), Jenna Dent (Academic Excellence), Amber Colmorgen (Fieldwork Excellence), Brianna Pratt (OTA South Bay Forum Scholarship), and Colmorgen again (Spring Forward Therapy Scholarship).

The physical therapist assistant program awarded 18 degrees. The radiography program graduated 11 students, all of whom passed the registry examination. The health services management program awarded five Associate in Science degrees, and the health services administration program awarded 14 Bachelor of Applied Science degrees.
