Bradenton Sets New Water & Sewer Impact Fees for Development

The City of Bradenton has established a detailed structure for its water and sewer impact fees, assigning unit values to various plumbing fixtures to fund infrastructure for new development. The Planning & Development department uses an application form that lists specific fixture types and their corresponding unit values.

A standard bathroom group with a tank-operated water closet is valued at 6 units. Private installations of water closets with flushometer tanks are rated at 3 units, while private water closet installations are 4 units. Public water closet installations carry a 6-unit value.

Other fixtures include bidets (2 units), combination sink and tray units (3 units), and domestic dishwashing machines (2 units). Kitchen sinks are valued at 2 units, increasing to 3 units for domestic kitchen sinks equipped with a food waste grinder. Lavatory values range from 1 unit for those with a 1 & 1/4-inch drain to 2 units for those with a 1 & 1/2-inch drain or installations in barber shops, beauty parlors, or bars.

Developers calculate the total units for a project and multiply that number by the per-unit fees. The current water fee is $62.24 per unit, and the sewer fee is $81.34 per unit. A project with 10 units, for example, would incur a $622.40 water fee and an $813.40 sewer fee, totaling $1,435.80.

The application requires the owner's name, contractor information, and the job's address. It also includes fields for applicant signatures and city official approval dates. This fee structure ensures that new growth contributes to the expansion and maintenance of essential public utilities. Residents planning new construction or significant renovations involving plumbing may encounter this application during the permitting process.
