A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Helena Valley, Gallatin Valley, Madison River Valley, and Missouri Headwaters, active from 11:30 PM MDT October 11 until 6:00 AM MDT October 12, with heavy snow, high winds, and difficult travel expected.
Residents in the Helena Valley, Gallatin Valley, Madison River Valley, and Missouri Headwaters are advised to prepare for difficult travel conditions and potential power outages due to a Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Great Falls, MT.
The warning is in effect from 11:30 PM MDT on October 11 until 6:00 AM MDT on October 12. Heavy snow, with additional accumulations up to two inches, is expected. Winds are also forecast to gust as high as 40 mph.
The NWS warns that travel could be very difficult. The wet and heavy nature of the snow may cause tree branches to break, leading to isolated power outages. If travel is essential, motorists are urged to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in their vehicles in case of an emergency. For the latest road conditions, dial 511.
