Jeremiah “Mookie” Dale Hibdon, age 47, passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2026.He was born on August 15, 1978, to Dana Smith and Jeffrey Hibdon. Jeremiah was preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey Hibdon, his grandparents, Billy Bob and Minnie Hibdon, and his grandparents, O.D. and Alaneta Crosslin.Jeremiah spent many years working at Yorozu Automotive, where he earned the nickname “Mookie”, a name many knew and loved him by. One of his greatest joys later in life was working for the railroad – a lifelong dream that he was proud to fulfill. He was a laid back, easygoing man _ the kind of friend anyone would be lucky to have. Though it could take time to break through his shell, once you did, you had a loyal friend for life. Jeremiah wasn’t always dealt the easiest hand, but he made the most out of every situation with quiet strength and resilience. He had a deep love for motorcycles and owned two bikes that he cherished as prized possessions – second only to his children, whom he loved beyond measure. Jeremiah's favorite place to be was riding a backroad with his windows down, and spending time with his children making memories together. After overcoming a serious illness in January, Jeremiah believed God had given him a second chance at life. He embraced that time fully, surrounding himself with family, love, good food, and even better memories with those he held closest. He is survived by his mother, Dana Smith; and his brother, Jonathan Smith. His legacy lives on through his children, his daughter, Miah (Dalton) Welch – Hibdon; son, Jesse Lee Hibdon; and his grandson, Lee Ozman Surber.Jeremiah was deeply loved, and the world will never feel the same without him in it. To his family, he wasn’t just Jeremiah – he was home, and that love will never leave us.A visitation will be held at Manchester Funeral Home on Thursday, April 23, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, at 11:00 AM with funeral procession following to Midway Church of Christ Cemetery in Cannon County for graveside services and burial. Mookie always wanted everyone to be comfortable. In his honor, the family asks that you leave the suits and ties at home and join them in informal dress attire for his services.
