North Charleston Named Finalist for 2026 All-America City Award North Charleston, SC – The City of North Charleston has been named one of 20 finalists for the prestigious 2026 All-America City Award, presented by the National Civic League. This national recognition highlights communities that demonstrate excellence in civic engagement, collaboration, and inclusive community-building. For more than 75 years, the All-America City Award has celebrated communities that work together to identify challenges and create meaningful, lasting solutions. This year’s theme, Strengthening Civic Health and Building Trust, reflects North Charleston’s ongoing commitment to fostering strong relationships between residents, local organizations, and city leadership. North Charleston joins a diverse group of finalists from across the country, all recognized for their dedication to ensuring residents have a voice in shaping the future of their communities. “This year’s All-America City finalists remind us that the strength of democracy depends on engaged residents who are invested in shaping the future of the places they call home,” said Doug Linkhart, President of the National Civic League. “These communities are proving that civic health is improved block by block, through trust, belonging, and the collective power of people working together.” Mayor Reggie Burgess praised the recognition as a reflection of the community’s spirit and collaboration.“Being named an All-America City finalist is a testament to the people of North Charleston,” said Mayor Burgess. “Our residents, businesses, nonprofits, and city staff work together every day to build a stronger, more connected community. This recognition belongs to all of them, and we are proud to represent North Charleston on the national stage.” Finalists were selected through a competitive review process that evaluated each community’s shared vision, civic engagement, inclusiveness, collaboration, innovation, and measurable impact. What’s Next North Charleston will travel to Denver, Colorado from June 26–28, 2026, to participate in the All-America City Award Event. During the event, finalist communities will present their work to a panel of national civic leaders and share best practices with peers from across the country. The event brings together residents, youth, nonprofits, businesses, and government leaders to highlight what effective local democracy looks like in action. Winners of the 2026 All-America City Award will be announced during the closing ceremony.
