Bibb County residents, particularly those in Centreville, need to prepare immediately for tropical storm force winds and significant flooding. The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Tropical Storm Watch, effective from October 8 at 10:27 PM CDT until October 9 at 6:30 AM CDT.

Wind speeds are forecast to reach 30-40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, starting early Saturday morning and continuing through Saturday morning. This could lead to damage to unsecured structures, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Residents should complete all property protection efforts now and move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Expect 1-3 inches of rain, with higher localized amounts, posing a moderate flood threat. This could lead to evacuations, swollen rivers, and hazardous driving conditions. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life.

Tornadoes are not expected at this time. Stay informed of the latest forecast updates.
