Maryland beaches face a high risk of rip currents and dangerous surf with waves up to 8 feet, prompting a Beach Hazards Statement from the NWS Wakefield VA, urging all to stay out of the water from Sunday morning through evening.
Maryland beachgoers are advised to remain out of the water due to a high risk of rip currents and dangerous surf conditions, according to a Beach Hazards Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Wakefield VA. The alert is in effect from 8 AM EDT Sunday, October 11, through Sunday evening.
A High Surf Advisory is also in place from 6 AM to 6 PM EDT Sunday, October 11, with large breaking waves of 7 to 8 feet expected in the surf zone. These conditions will create dangerous swimming and surfing opportunities and could lead to localized beach erosion.
Inexperienced swimmers should particularly avoid entering the water. All individuals are urged to remain out of the water to prevent hazardous swimming situations.
This Beach Hazards Statement was issued at 10:42 PM EDT on October 10 and applies to all Maryland Beaches.
