Dangerous Rip Currents, High Surf Expected at Maryland Beaches
A Beach Hazards Statement and High Surf Advisory are in effect for Maryland Beaches until this evening, with dangerous rip currents and large waves of 5 to 8 feet expected; avoid entering the water.
OCEAN CITY, MD – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Beach Hazards Statement and a High Surf Advisory for Maryland Beaches, effective immediately. Residents and visitors are advised to remain out of the water due to dangerous conditions.
A High Surf Advisory is in effect until 6 PM EDT this evening, October 11, with large breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet expected in the surf zone. Concurrently, a Beach Hazards Statement is in effect from 8 AM EDT this morning through this evening, October 11, indicating a high risk of rip currents.
These conditions are expected to create dangerous swimming and surfing conditions, along with localized beach erosion. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water. All individuals are urged to avoid entering the water to ensure their safety. The NWS Wakefield VA issued this alert.
