RAPID CITY, SD — Motorists in several Western South Dakota and Eastern Wyoming counties should prepare for rapidly changing visibility this morning due to patchy dense fog. The National Weather Service (NWS) Rapid City has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective immediately until 6:00 AM MDT.

Affected areas include Harding, Butte, Northern Meade Co Plains, Northern Foothills, Rapid City, Pennington Co Plains, Sturgis/Piedmont Foothills, Southern Meade Co Plains, and Southern Perkins in South Dakota, as well as Western Crook, Wyoming Black Hills, and Northeastern Crook in Wyoming.

Drivers are advised to use low beam headlights, reduce speed, and maintain increased braking distance between vehicles. Visibility may drop to near zero at times. These precautions are crucial for safe travel during the affected period.
