Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Northern Hancock, Act Now

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Northern Hancock until early morning, with gusty winds possible; residents should ensure emergency readiness and monitor updates.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Northern Hancock, including Necaise and Sellers, effective immediately as of October 8 at 10:01 PM CDT, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans LA. This warning is set to expire on October 9 at 6:15 AM UTC.

Residents should ensure emergency readiness. While sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force, gusts up to 40 mph are possible. Listen for any instructions from local officials. Community officials are currently assessing any realized wind impacts.

The threat of flooding rain has decreased significantly, with no significant rainfall forecast. Little to no potential impacts from flooding rain are expected, and little to no preparations are needed for this threat. However, continue to monitor for any changes to the forecast.

The NWS also reports that the situation is unfavorable for tornadoes, and none are expected at this time. Little to no preparations are needed for tornadoes, but stay informed of the latest situation. Showers and thunderstorms with gusty winds may still occur.
