A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Southern Hancock County, including Kiln, Pearlington, Bay St. Louis, Diamondhead, and Waveland, effective immediately. The National Weather Service in New Orleans issued this severe warning today, October 9, at 4:12 AM CDT, and it is set to expire at 12:15 PM CDT.

Residents in these areas should shelter against life-threatening storm surge. Peak storm surge inundation of 3-5 feet above ground is possible in surge-prone areas through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should remain in safe shelters away from flooding. Do not venture outside.

Wind speeds are forecast to be below tropical storm force, with peak winds of 20-30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. While additional wind impacts are not expected, conditions may still be gusty. Listen for any instructions from local officials and ensure emergency readiness.

Little to no significant rainfall or tornado threat is currently forecast. However, residents should monitor for any changes to the forecast. For more information, visit msema.org.
