A Storm Surge Warning of Extreme severity has been issued for Coastal Bay by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective immediately, October 8 at 5:22 PM EDT. This warning affects Panama City, Panama City Beach, Mexico Beach, Lynn Haven, and Bayou George. Residents in surge-prone areas should evacuate immediately if orders are given to avoid being cut off from emergency services.
Life-threatening storm surge inundation of 4-7 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. There is potential for flooding greater than 6 feet above ground. Significant wind of 30-40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph is expected Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning, with potential for winds of 58-73 mph. Prepare for significant wind damage and move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with additional rainfall of 3-6 inches expected, leading to potential major flooding. Emergency plans should include the possibility of evacuations and rescues. The NWS also indicates a situation favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Listen for tornado watches and warnings, and if issued, shelter quickly.
